Circus Punt Netherlands
Soesja Pijlman was born on October 4, 1987, in Rotterdam The Netherlands, as the daughter of a physiotherapist with Indonesian roots and an engineer from the polder; definitely not a circus family.
Nevertheless, she became an artist of Circus Rotjeknor at a young age. At this youth circus she became acquainted with several circus disciplines, participated in various productions and developed her love for the circus profession. In September 2007, she started the ‘Circus Arts’ course at Codarts Rotterdam (NL) to improve her skills. She graduated in June 2011 and since then she may call herself ‘Bachelor of Circus Arts’.
Based on the need to develop further, her heart for transfer and the conviction that art (education) is important for society as a whole, she decided to enroll in the Master of Education in Arts, which she completed in August 2015. In her work as a performing artist, coach, teacher, coordinator, project leader and consultant, Soesja has developed into a committed, proactive professional with an eye for (new) possibilities and the people she works with. With her dedication she likes to contribute to the wonder, development and well-being of others.
